Jesus and John the Baptist are connected by blood (cousins) and through/by the spirit. One (John the Baptist was sent to prepare the way for Jesus and one was the way, Jesus. I would say they first met n the spirit when John the Baptist leaped in his mother’s, Elizabeths stomach when she encountered her cousin Mary who was pregnant with Jesus, the Messiah. As far as I see scriptural, they met face-to-face when John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the river Jordan.

John the Baptist’s purpose was to go ahead of Jesus to prepare the way for him. I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”- (Mark1:1-3)
John the Baptist preached repentance and baptized -And this was his message: “After I come the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:7-8).

John the Baptist and Jesus met one day when Jesus was passing through Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan -And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit Mark 1:9-11.

John and Jesus was connected by the HolyGhost and they also was connected by blood they are relatives. Luke 1:39-45. Not sure how to answer the question. Because Jesus and John’s mother was relatives and lived 80 some miles away, so they may have meet w/n those time of growing up, now when Mary showed up and Elizabeth heard her voice the baby leaped in her stomach, that was some type of identification of being in close contact, then at Jordan River it seemed as if John did not know Jesus because what he said John 1: 32-33 maybe John was he didn’t know him as the Messiah but he could have know him as a cousin or as the carpenter so.
So, I need assistance in answering that question.
